Main Types of Doors You Can Consider For Your Garage

Although most home front doors are designed to get all the attention, the garage door can break or make your property's curb appeal. If your house has a front-facing garage, the garage door is the first thing everyone will notice when they pull into your driveway or while driving by. Therefore, you must ensure you choose a suitable garage door that's well designed and functional. Garage doors come in a wide range of styles and materials. You can also choose the design, finish colour, and other special features such as insulation, windows, and operating mechanisms.

Are you feeling overwhelmed because you don't know the kind of door you'll choose? Do not fret. Browse through this post to find the most suitable garage doors.

Roller doors

A roller garage door is one of the popular and neatest solutions the market can offer. They can be closed or opened vertically, and you don't require an internal tracking mechanism to operate it. By design, roller doors are suitable for garages that are used to keep larger vehicles or small garages that don't have ample storage space. This is because there is no intrusion to the overhead space. Moreover, you can even park your vehicle safely a few inches from the door.

Most homeowners prefer garage roller doors because they are diverse and can be installed in any size or shape. Mostly, the door is available in non-insulated single-skins steel or double skinned aluminium. You may choose to operate it manually or automatically.

Side-hinged doors

These garage doors feature a traditional design, and they open or close from a hinged frame on any side of the garage opening. Side-hinged garage doors are often made with wood and resemble huge barn doors. You may also find a galvanised steel hinged side door, although they are usually designed for commercial purposes. These doors are ideal for garages that have limited headroom or obstructions and can be installed in existing frames or bought when fitted in steel frames.

Sectional doors

This is another common type of garage door that's made of panel sections linked with hinges. When the door is opened or closed, the wheels on each panel roll inside a track. Each section operates vertically without a swing out from the tracking mechanism and structural opening. Homeowners like these garage doors because of their features, including ease of use, safety, security, and style. Like roller doors, sectional doors also come in a wide range of materials and finishes.

About Me

Garage Doors: Everything You Need to Know Be honest, when was the last time that you thought about your garage door? If you are anything like I used to be, you will never really think about your garage door. You will instead just drive up to it and expect it to open and close on command. It is only when this does not happen that you might start to think about the fact that your garage door exists at all. When my garage door stopped working, I didn't know what to do. I called in a contractor who repaired it for me and explained what I needed to do to keep it in good working order. This blog contains everything I have learnt.
